2005 DCSS Christmas Newsletter

15 Dec 05

Dear all,

Another very busy year has passed and it is time to wish you a 'Very Happy Christmas'!

Steven and Caroline had their house extended, starting in January and Dick and I had the 3 boys every week-end (except when we were on holiday) until our season started. This was with the Royal Wedding, where I was in charge of the Media in the daytime and Dick was in charge during the night. We were at Windsor Castle for a week and have never been so cold in our lives.

The season continued with The International Rowing Championships at Eton, Homelands Festival, The International Festival of the Sea at Portsmouth, Trafalgar 2000 also at Portsmouth, V.E.Day Celebrations in Trafalgar Square, Live 8, in Hyde Park, Festival of Flight at Blenheim Palace plus all the usual, Student Balls at Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth, the festivals Glastonbury, Guilfest, Big Chill, T. in the Park in Scotland, all the Hyde Park Summer Shows, Reading and Leeds Festival and Proms in the Park not counting numerous small shows (yes we did, over 60 shows this year).

On September 1st Dick flew to Koh Samui, and Island off Thailand where he was Site Manager for the Koh Samui Music Festival, which is a 10 day event featuring artists like Ike Turner, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Blues Brothers, The Wailers, Jools Holland and UB40. There were also a lot of Thai bands taking part. I flew out on the 16th September to look after the dressing rooms and artistes. We were there until 5th October and it was a very different but enjoyable experience not having been to Thailand before.

The season ended with the firework display on Blackheath Common.

Thus we started with a cold show and finished with the same

We finished, as usual, with our two weeks in Tenerife where I have to say we did not do very much but lay in the sun, read and walk. It was lovely.

Phillip and Saifalee are getting married in Mauritius on November 4th. This will be a 4 day Hindu wedding but they are having a Civil Ceremony in England before this. Steven, Caroline and the boys are going to Mauritius with us plus some of Philip’s friends but they do not have to go to all four days of the wedding, only Mum and Dad. We are looking forward to this as Saifalee is a lovely girl.

I hope you are all keeping well and had a good year and that we will be seeing you next year.

Thanks for all your hard work this year.

Wishing you all the best for 2006.

Janet & Dick
